What is the Inclusive Endurance Sport Policy Group?

This group was formed in response to USA Cycling’s (USAC) capitulation to the Executive Orders pushing trans women from women’s categories into men’s categories. These policies violate many state level Human Rights statutes.

Our current project is to support trans women who are looking to use those state level Human Rights Statutes to mitigate the harm these policies create for trans cyclists in the United States, and to provide resources for allies and accomplices to rebuild inclusivity in our sport.

Exclusionary policies continue to roll out, effecting (mostly) trans women across the US.

National Governing Bodies (NGBs) are weighing the cost of loss of their status as NGB vs excluding this small segment of their memberships. We lose every time. Even organizations that do not need to follow these executive order and are not NGBs for their sports are enacting these sweeping arbitrary bans.

As a cis ally said the other day as our team discussed this: “excluding trans women hurts all women.”

If you are a trans woman and a USAC registered cyclist who races in any USAC sanctioned discipline message us or slide into our DMs to learn more about what we are doing to redo the work of making cycling inclusive.

If you are an ally you may also drop a DM to find out more on how you can help support trans and non-binary cyclists.

While we are focusing on the effects of these policies on trans women, we intend to continue to pursue policy making and campaigning against bad policy in order to make endurance sports more inclusive for all.
